Florida Lifestyle Photographer -- Session Styling Tips --Heirloom & Oil LLC
What you and your family members wear to a session will set the tone for your session. Styling can take your photos up a notch and make everything go from nice to downright magical. Some people love shopping and coordinating outfits so if thats you, carry on friend! If you are busy, not sure what will photograph well, having trouble coordinating all your family members outfits, or maybe you just can’t make up your mind that is where I come in to help! I am here to help you find outfits that can make your portrait session timeless and beautiful.
After you book a session with me you will receive a link to a styling service called Style & Select. This service is made especially for photographers and their clients. This is something that I subscribe to so that you can have the easiest and most stress free photo session prep possible. The questionnaire will ask you a few basic questions and then pull coordinating clothing from all over the web for you. What I really love is that they offer a wide range of options and price points such as clothing from target or clothing from online boutiques. I personally used it for my own family and loved the baby clothing options. I actually love shopping, but I do not love dragging my 2 small kids with me to shop! Buying clothing with this tool is certainly not required for your session with me, but it is here for you if you need it.
Other thank Style & Select I am available on facebook messenger and you can always send me fitting room selfies, photos of the outfits you have in mind, or chat about colors and ideas. I am always happy to help with this part of your experience with me.
Here are some other tips for your session:
Avoid being too “matchy matchy” by having someone wear a small pattern or textured fabric.
Earth tones and neutrals always photograph beautifully.
Avoid logos, writing on t-shirts, character clothing, etc.
Avoid neon colors.
Flowy skirts and dresses photograph well because of the movement they add in an image.
Mama’s, it’s best to wear something that you can bend and move freely in so that you can connect with your loved ones without focusing on straps falling down or other wardrobe mishaps.
Pick clothing that you feel great in. If you don’t love how you look in the outfit chances are you won’t be as happy with your photos.
That’s it! I know you will look amazing!!
