2019 has been such a year of growth for me! I have created both personal work for myself and have had the best time with client work including family, maternity, portrait, and couples sessions. This year I had a lot of goals. Some of those goals included being featured within the art community and applying to artist programs within in art world. This year I had images featured on several instagram hubs, was featured twice on Twyla Jones’ blog Emotional Storytelling with Twyla Jones, and was also accepted as an Expert Artist with Unraveled Academy and was interviewed for their blog!! What a freaking great year!
Being recognized by other successful artists and art teachers is such an honor and really inspires you to keep going on the days where you are feeling less than creative or motivated.
For those of you who don’t know, Unraveled Academy, is an online learning platform for photographers with some amazing teachers and a mega supportive community for its students. To become an Unraveled Expert Artist you go through the process of preparing a portfolio of 90 curated images to showcase you as an artist. Your images are scored based on specific technical skills as well as some other factors like if your portfolio is cohesive. It takes a lot of work and a lot of courage to hit that send button to apply, but the art student in me was really quite excited to get a formal critique of my work. (It’s been many moons since my work was last reviewed!)
Also, If you don’t know who Twyla Jones is then you may not know why I died and went to heaven when she featured my images two times. I’m a huge fan of her work and she is a very positive and wonderful leader and teacher in the photography industry. Having images featured by her was such a huge compliment.
Thank-you to all my amazing clients and cheerleaders. Deciding to make art and then share it with the world can be a very vunerable thing to do. I am so grateful to have such wonderful people in my life that support me! And to my awesome clients, thank you all so much for trusting me to photograph your big and little moments!!
